Anyone aspiring on becoming a seafarer or mariner needs a Seaman’s Identification Record Book or Seaman’s Book to land that dream job of yours. So what are the basic steps for new applicants?
Before applying for your SIRB at the office of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), make sure to possess all of these documents first.
- Birth Certificate on Security Paper (SECPA) or Passport
- Valid NBI Clearance (visa seaman)
- Valid Basic Safety Training (BST) Certificate
- Official Receipt of Basic Safety Training (BST) Course
The standard processing time of SIRB for regular applications is 8 hours with a processing fee of PhP800.00. But for those who are in a hurry, you can avail their expedite applications for a fee of PhP1,500.00 and you can have your SIRB within 4 hours.

You must be a filipino citizen or a citizen of the country.
pwede magtanong kung pwedeng kumuha ng sirb kahit hindi pa secpa ung birth certificate ko? processing pa ksi sa nso papers q ksi nagpachange ako ng gender sa birth ko. by februAry ko pa makukuha ang birth certifiCATE with secpa ko... salamat po sa sasagot. 2 yrs. npo akong wlang sirb smula ng nggraduate aq. tulong nman po.. wenz..
may dating birth certificate aq na secpa kasu Female ung gender ko dun.mali yun. kaya kumuha ako ng abogado para magpasa ng kasu para palitan ung birth gender ko to MALE.. ayun natapos na lahat kaya lang pina paaantay paako ng february pra makuha ung birth cert. ko na may secpa.. pero may new birth certificate na ako dito na galing sa LCR na may remarks na MALE na gender ko. pwede kayang ito nalang gagamitin ko? ang tagal pa kasi hihintayin ko qng aantayin ko pa ung february. salamat po. sana masagot po ninyo..
