Pinoy Mariner as a blog

Pinoy Mariner is a collection of ideas, news, and topics about the maritime industry and the Filipino seafarers. The blog’s main goal at its birth was to create an online diary of the author’s journey at sea. But later on the author realized that there is a need to put a guide for those who would like to become seafarers. Then as years pass by, the blog evolved into a source of information not just for the beginners but also for the seasoned seafarers. From time to time, it also feature topics the author loves… and sometimes hates.

About the author

The author, Anvin Argañosa, is a licensed Electronics Engineer from Central Philippine University who practiced his profession at a semiconductor company for about three years. He later decided to pursue a career at sea as an Electro-Technical Officer. You can read his reasons here – “Why I changed my career?“.

On October 2011, his blogging journey started while working as a seafarer for the first time. During that period he worked as a trainee electrician at a certain shipping agency in the Philippines to gain the experiences needed for promotion. His months of on-board ship training inspired him to put up this blog to share his experiences as he progress with his new chosen career.

On November 2011, the author’s goal to become an Electro-Technical Officer was fulfilled, but the journey did not end there. There will be more challenges to face, experiences to gain, exams to take, and dreams to pursue.

Life is indeed boring when you cease on dreaming. That’s why his next ambition is to become a Marine Engineer or much better a business tycoon! But in the mean time, he will be performing as a blogger, an Electro-Technical Officer, and a seafarer.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
